Each bar is one Massachusetts community, ranked from highest tax-to-income ratio (left) to lowest (right). Marblehead sits near the far right. The metric divides the DOR average single-family tax bill (FY2026) by DOR per-capita income (FY2027). Full dataset (CSV). Explore this data in a sortable, filterable table: Town Explorer.
Average single-family tax bill: MA DOR DLS, FY2026. Per-capita income: DOR Municipal Databank, FY2027. The ratio uses per-capita income (not median household income) because DOR per-capita income is available for all communities from one source. This is a different denominator than the four-town comparison on the Rate and Bill page (which uses ACS median household income). Both confirm the same relative ranking.
