42 Thank you. Um, So, uh, being that it’s the first meeting of the, um, 24 25 select board calendar, we read a, uh, our land acknowledgement. Uh, so we acknowledge that the land on which we reside now known as the town of Marblehead, is the ancestral homeland of the nom keg band of the Massachusetts and Pawtucket tribes. They lived here under the leadership of the great s Seche, Nana passionate since time immemorial the nom keg, people maintain this land and surrounding water with the utmost respect, preserving it for future generations and treating it as sacred ground for the burial of their dead. They had an organized and thriving community before the arrival of European settlers. The non keg people suffered great loss of life
30 during King Philips war, and the smallpox plagues and the surviving members were dispossessed of the land. Although we are unaware of any non keg descendants living in Marblehead today, we honor the non keg people of the Massachusetts and Pawtucket tribes past and present as the original stewards of this land and pledge to include their history in the history of our town.
53 So we do have one item on the agenda. Um, it is the, uh, contract, um, chief King has brought forward. It’s, uh, for an a DA, uh, grant project around, that’s the flooring. Um, and it, my understanding is that we just be able to speak outside that this is something that can be completed by the end of the month and is required for the purpose of the grant to be completed by the end of the month. So, right. Um, I dunno if there’s much else to say on it. No. So I, I will mention, so we applied for and received, um, uh, grant for a DA accessibility at the police station. Um, we looked at a number of projects.
38 Uh, one of ‘em that was completed was the, uh, I call it a water bubbler, but, uh, water station. Uh, it’s the new filtered where you put the, your sports bottles and, and, and, and so you don’t use the, the one use bottle. So that’s been, uh, paid for by the a DA grants and installed into the police station. This one is to put a non-slip surface, um, in the, it’s in the jail area. Right. Uh, special kind of pay, um, uh, that puts it down. So for those with, um, with disabilities as well as anyone else, uh, have sure footing, uh, in that area.
23 And the key is the grant expires at the end of the month, June 30th. So, um, we want to get this project approved and done. Uh, they’re ready to go, so we take advantage of this grant. Great. Okay. Um, can I have a motion to award a contract between the town and SOEP Painting Corporation in the amount of $23,365 for re resilience, re floor coating and improvements to the police station male cell block area? Sure. Second. All in favor?
01 Great. Okay. Thank you for bringing us all these grants and the work that goes into that. I know you worked with Becky on that one, right? Yeah. Becky’s grant. Okay. Um, She loved, Yeah. Um, okay, so that brings us to select board announcements.

Uh, I just wanna say thank you and I appreciate the trust
11 and faith that, that you have, um, in me and extending me another year. I had a little interruption I feel like in last year, so I really appreciate the chance to give it my full all this year.
